I left the Air Force to become a teacher to educate those who will shape our country's future. As a teacher my students always did very well in my classroom. I learned early in my teaching career that if I wanted to help my students excel I had to team up with their parents first. Once I had the parents involved I was able to teach effectively and efficiently.
I hoped to have the same success as a school board member. I wanted to serve you. My goal was to improve our schools for all students. To do this we need to involve the families and citizens again. And just raising taxes is not the answer. I believe we already pay enough in taxes already, we just need to make sure the right amount comes back to the schools and we spend every penny of taxpayers' money wisely. I will involve the citizens, parents and teachers every step of the way, just as I did as an educator. I will always be accountable to the citizens of Brevard County and my home phone will always be listed.
I, like many others believe that many of our representatives stay too long in their position and they become too comfortable with the status quo. Are we teaching the children in public schools to best of our ability? Can we do better? I believe we can. All I ask is to serve you and our children for four years and if I don't come through with some much needed changes then I welcome her to run for school board again in the next election. I will be glad to step down if I too become ineffective.
